What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going during the tough times?
Seven years ago, I had a double lumpectomy and breast reconstruction. Two weeks later, I was home recovering and suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm. I gained weight during the treatment and recovery process. The weight was a hindrance to my overall health.

When I felt like giving up, I considered other aneurysm survivors and how blessed I am to have the ability to work, which gave me the confidence to keep going.

How did you change your eating habits?
I spoke with my primary care physician and expressed my goal of switching from my favorite foods to healthier versions. She recommended a nutritionist with my health care insurance plan. The nutritionist helped me change the recipes of my favorite meals into healthier versions.

Tell us about your workout routine.
I walk daily. I stepped/walked the recommended 30 minutes (1.5 miles) daily and worked my way up to about 3 hours per day (9 miles).

What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
Starting weight: 198 pounds

Current weight: 146 pounds

Goal weight: 120 pounds

What is your height?
I’m 4’11“.

When did you start your weight loss journey?
I started in August 2022, and I’m currently still going.

Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No. I didn’t have any surgery related to weight loss.

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
Everyone’s journey is different.

What advice would you share with women who want to lose weight?
Communicate with your healthcare providers. Complete a physical and blood work. Identify any deficiency in your health to incorporate that knowledge into your plan and diet. Address any vitamin deficiency with supplements and vitamins enriched foods.
