India vs Qatar: Team India head coach Igor Stimac blasts match officials for wrong decisions, claims injustice was done to his boys
The dream is over for the India Football Team. However, Team India coach Igot Stimac was absolutely livid. He claimed that injustice was done to his boys. Qatar went on to beat India 2-1 in a game that has been shrouded with controversy. Hosts, Qatar was allowed to score a goal when the ball had crossed the line for a corner.
India were leading 1-0 and was en route to win the game and make it to the Round 3 of the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. After the match in the post match press conference, Stimac explicitly claimed that there has been injustice done to his boys.
Injustice for my Boys
“It is an injustice to my boys tonight. I mean, they equalized with that. My boys did everything that they could – I’d say Qatar team was a bit more lucky today,” India head coach Igor Stimac said.
“I’m not blaming it all on FIFA – I’m just saying things like these just shouldn’t happen. If it happened to Qatar, I would also speak about it,” Stimac added.
Stimac however remained diplomatic claiming he would have still spoken had a similar thing would have worked in favour of India. But now all being done, it is the end of the dream for India to make it to the next stage of the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
India game marred with controversy
India scored their goal in the first half of the game. But late into the second half Qatar scored twice to snatch aa victory against the Blue Tigers. But the first goal was shambolic to say the very least. The ball had crossed the goal line, which neither the referee nor the linesman had seen.
The Indian players started to take their positions for a corner, only when a Qatari forward dragged the ball into the field and Yousef Ayman tapped into the back of the empty net. Despite huge protests from the Indian players, the match officials turned deaf ears towards the visitors.
