Dragon Age: The Veilguard Launches This Halloween

More than a decade after the release of Dragon Age: Inquisition, we’re finally getting the next game in the fantasy RPG series. BioWare is releasing Dragon Age: The Veilguard on Oct. 31. The game is now available for preorder on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

“We wanted to give you the choice to really express yourself, and do that in a world full of adventure and danger,” John Epler, creative director of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, wrote in the release date blog post. “So whether you’re a Warrior, Rogue or a Mage, we can’t wait for you to gear up, gather your party, and set out for another thrilling adventure through Thedas this Halloween.”

Previously titled “Dragon Age: Dreadwolf,” Veilguard follows a new customizable character known as Rook as companions are gathered to oppose elven gods. One of those gods — Solas, aka the Dreadwolf — still plays a major part in the game, even if he’s no longer part of the title.

BioWare also announced preorder bonuses for the game, if you’re into that sort of thing. Like most AAA games these days, Veilguard will be available in multiple editions. Preordering the standard edition ($70 for console, $60 for PC) will net you Blood Dragon Armor for all three classes. Preordering the deluxe edition ($90 on console, $80 for PC) lets you also nab three armor sets and six weapons for Rook, plus seven weapon sets and seven armor sets for your companions — an armor set and weapon for each companion in the game.
