Alex lost 43 pounds | Black Weight Loss Success

Transformation of the Day (Update): Alex lost 43 pounds. By 2020, she had lost a significant amount of weight but later regained those pounds over the course of two years. A health scare, followed by emergency surgery, gave her a new perspective and caused her to refocus on health.

I want to share that I lost a significant amount of weight in 2020, just to turn around and gain it back in 2021-2022. I then had a health scare in 2022 and had to have emergency gallbladder removal surgery which really caused me to look at things from another perspective and get serious about getting my health back on track. Sometimes, the things that are meant to break us can pivot our lives into the next era.

What is your current weight?
165 pounds

How have you maintained your weight loss/continued to lose weight?
I count macros and aim for 120 grams of protein per day. I don’t restrict myself. Instead, I make the foods I want to eat fit into my daily lifestyle. This has been the most sustainable way for me.

Looking back on the lessons you’ve learned on your journey, which one stands out the most?
You definitely don’t want to not compare your journey to someone else’s. Also, embrace the fact that there will be setbacks. Learn to navigate through those setbacks and get back into routine.

Would you like to offer any new or different advice to women who want to lose weight?
Embrace the process! Find what works for YOU. Just because someone else is eating a certain way doesn’t mean that’s what’s right for you. People will always try to tell you why something will/won’t work, but the only way to know is to TRY! It might feel lonely if you’re doing this journey alone. Remember why you started, and you’ll meet the right people along the way.
