Head averages just 3.16 against Starc in competitive cricket and just 5.50 in the IPL.
Mitchell Starc has continued to own Travis Head. The two Australian teammates have hardly gone against each other, but these contests haven’t fared well for Head. In the 10th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season between the Delhi Capitals (DC) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Starc got the wicket of the opener for a sixth time. Mind you, they have gone toe-to-toe on just eight occasions.
The dismissals haven’t been great either. Of these six times, Head has been bowled four times. The remaining two are caught behind. And he was dismissed in Visakhapatnam, caught behind. Head had started very well, scoring 11 runs from the first four balls by Starc.

But in his next over the tall left-arm pacer got the wickets of Ishan Kishan and Nitish Kumar Reddy. DC captain Axar Patel knows that Starc could end the match in the powerplay itself if he gets the wicket of Head. The pacer came steaming in and bowled a short ball near his body.
Everybody knows that Head has issues with bouncers, especially at the start of his innings. Starc has seen him from close quarters and knows this as well. Head gave in to his aggressive instinct and looked to guide it over the short third-man fielder. However, all Head got on the ball were his gloves, and wicketkeeper KL Rahul took an easy catch to send the dangerous batter back to the pavilion.
