“What is given to you is given to share, not to keep” – Mother Theresa
I’m obsessed!
There it is. I said it! For the last few months, I have been reading, seeking, dreaming, and speaking about light. I post questions on Facebook. I ask others for their thoughts about lighthouses and beacons. I get a variety of feedback, but the more responses I get, the more excited I am to keep exploring.
For many years, I have been getting messages through my dreams that I am meant to help others shine their light in a bigger way. My dreams are full of light in all different forms: sunlight, light bubbles, spirals of light, the light at the end of the tunnel. In one of my more meaningful dreams, I saw myself walking through the dark, carrying a torch high, and inviting others who were also lost to join me. The light of the torch gave us hope as we navigated the way together.
We are all meant to shine our light.
We don’t have to be Tony Robbins or Oprah in order to share our gifts. We don’t have to write a book, appear on Shark Tank, or even be speakers or teachers. We contribute to the world by being who we are. We make a difference by uplifting ourselves and allowing ourselves to grow and expand our perspectives. We become a source of light to others when we stay connected with our own inner light.
Merriam-Webster defines beacon as a source of light or inspiration.
I see a beacon as a person who shines her light, and, in turn, inspires, guides, and brings hope to others.
Every single day, we have endless opportunities to be a beacon. We are being a beacon every time we get through a challenging conversation. We are being a beacon every time we stretch ourselves and speak our truth. We are being a beacon every time we take off the mask and allow ourselves to be real. We are being a beacon every time we smile, we love, we accept, we connect. We are being a beacon every time we allow ourselves to be human and therefore imperfect.
You are a source of light.
There are three pillars to being a beacon.
- Keep your inner light shining bright
Your inner light never stops. Uncovering and claiming your inner brilliance is a daily practice, and the choice to connect and reconnect with your everlasting light is always in your hands. - Recharge your inner light by bringing light in
Your inner light needs nurturing. Maintaining a daily practice of self-care, taking time for self-renewal and reflection, and finding ways to bring joy into your life are all essential practices. For some people, developing a spiritual connection is the key. For others, it is more about mindfulness and living with intention. Personally, giving Reiki to myself daily has been my form of meditation, self-care, and spiritual practice for more than 20 years. Find a practice that works for you. - Share your light with others
Your light shows others the way. Keep it shining and remember that regardless of what you do, every time you are being YOU, you are a beacon, you are a light.
I’ve had my Balanced Moments brand for more than six years. We are now in a process of changing the brand to Beacons of Change. Remember my dream about carrying the torch? The more I do the inner work, the more I recharge my inner light, and the clearer the message becomes: I’m on a mission to serve as a beacon of change. I am on a mission to create a community of women who, just like me, are meant to shine their light and share their gifts in a bigger way.
A few days ago, as I was working with our branding team on creating a new logo and redesigning our site, I had a moment of panic and fear that my Balanced Moments tribe would leave me. I am willing to take the risk. I can’t deny my inner voice. I can’t deny my bigger purpose.
I want to create a movement of women who are dedicated to
stepping out of their comfort zones,
creating turning points,
using challenges as opportunities,
bringing purpose to pain
and navigating a process of change while being the beacons they are meant to be.
It’s already happening. It’s bigger than me. It’s my purpose.
I hope that you are with me,
Michal
