Rishabh Pant has had a poor IPL 2025 till now, and facing Trent Boult & Deepak Chahar on Friday could further spoil his record.
As it is LSG skipper Rishabh Pant has been battling poor form in the IPL 2025, and now his team faces MI in Lucknow, that could get trickier for the southpaw. In the first three matches this season, Pant has been ineffective, scoring only 17 runs, and more often than not, leaving the team in a lurch, getting dismissed at times, when the entire batting order comes in immense pressure.
No wonder, LSG find themselves at the seventh position, with two losses in three games. At Ekana, in the match vs PBKS, the 27-year-old could only score two runs at a strike-rate of 40, and with Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar in the opposition side, scoring will only get tougher for the LSG captain.
For starters, just like any another Indian batter, Rishabh too is a little susceptible against a left-arm pacer, that too of the quality of Boult. In five innings against the bowler, playing for different teams, Pant has just scored 13 runs in as many deliveries, with one dismissal. Out of those, eight were dots.
On the other hand, perhaps a bigger threat will be Deepak Chahar, who moves the ball in both directions. In 18 deliveries against fellow Indian, Rishabh Pant has only scored 24 runs, with one dismissal and two fours. Given the batsmen’s form this season, it seems likely, that the bowlers will get the better of him.
The worry does not end there for Pant. Newbie Ashwani Kumar was lethal in his first match the other night vs KKR. He bowled with a lot of pace, and disguise too, where he used the slower one to good effect. If on a slow Ekana pitch, he can get to take the pace off the ball, he could challenge Pant from the other side.
